that question was asked by an elderly brother who pioneered and he was a little senile too----he'd ask every person in the hall.
it didn't matter whether they were elders, pioneers, old ones, young ones, new ones----everyone!
he would even incorporate that question in his comments at the meetings!.......good question that no one seemed to want to answer.
who is Satan ? ; a concept of "evil" developed by mankind and given human attributes ( the term "bastard"; or other definitions of the ultimate "evil")
How is this any different from the Greek and Roman Gods; also developed by mankind and given human attributes.
If there really ARE unseen forces of good and evil; I doubt they think anything like organized religion portrays them ( thank goodness for that!)
didn't it drive you up the wall how, after a long week of working or going to school, you had to spend your entire weekend at an assembly?
the saturday and sunday that you could've spent catching up on some yard work, or even relaxing was wasted away by sitting in a bunch of chairs, listening to stuff you've heard many times before.. i know this used to drive me up the wall.
it felt like i had absolutely no time to myself during these weekends.
whenever I am in a auditorium and hear that "microphone feedback" I always get that sickening feeling that I am at an assembly.....

I think you have a bumpy ride ahead of you. You are among freinds here. Friends who have been there; done that. WE will not shun you.
The first step ( which you have taken) is the hardest and most important. The world and your life is now literally your oyster and can be anything you wish to make of it. A blank canvas waiting for you to begin anew.
Suggest you find someone to talk to; like a therapist, to help you find your way through the road ahead. It will not be easy; but has been and can be done.

i have been on this board for around four years.
at first i took what went on here quite seriously, well for about three weeks, but it then became quite obvious to me that the depth of role-playing that went on on these boards was so deep-rooted that it would be a foolish waste of time to do anything more than to read some of the more informative threads and delegate the rest to entertainment.
i hope narkissos forgives me for quoting something that he wrote yesterday, but his thought clearly encapuslates the reason why it is foolish to presume that you know, or will ever know the person who is posting by what they write, and why judgments on a persons character are more than often fatally flawed.
like anything else in life; it is what you make it.
we all have out own reasons for posting here; some more sincere or ernest than others.....
they were jws and blame everything on their jw past???
i know of people that never tried to get ahead or prosper themselves because they were witnesses.
never bought a house or a brand new car because they would rather rent and drive around in a jalopy that would break down.
... its those Jehovahs Witnesses...its all their fault that I am neurotic and incompetent......and a NOBODY
if I did not have to go door to door as a child; perhaps I would have more confidence in myself....its all their fault....yes, and having to talk on the platform when they all know that I am so nervous.....and my parents fault for raising me in that cult, its still their fault 30 years later.....and those others in that kingdom hall; its all their fault.....and those Jehovahs who came to my door the other day harrassing me; all their fault that I screamed at them and they brought out the worst in me. It was not my fault that I hit that man with his bookbag ( and why was it so heavy?) ....
And you too; its your fault for asking all these stupid questions that make us react so badly.....

a florists went to a barbershop for a haircut and went to pay the barber when he was done.
the barber thought that was very nice.
later that afternoon a cop came in for a haircut when he was finished he went to pay the barber but again the barber said he couldn't accept payment since he was doing community service.
how funny,
truth is, the jehovahs witnesses are never taught to do ANY community service. WhenI was a kid; I was taught that going door to door was saving peoples lives. I really believed that.
My wife, who grew up a VERY privledged non JW child; was taken to soup kitchens to serve; volunteered at the local hospital and went to nursing homes to do crafts with the elderly; grew up with the REAL meaning of community service.

seriously, I saw a flick a few years back called " A walk in the Clouds" and it woke me up as to the importance of relationships in our lives.
I have unconditional love for my children....
the love between me and my spouse is conditional.....fact of life as is evidenced by so many failed relationships where one spouse stops trying and the relationship fails. If one spouse is abusive ( mentally , emotionally or physically) the relationship suffers and eventually dies.
